Allergies?

Lauren has always had a bit of a skin condition (the doctors think it's keratosis pilaris) but we've also noticed her skin get a little bit red after eating strawberry jam a few times.  We've fed her plenty of strawberries over the last few months but tonight she had a bit of an allergic reaction we think!  Check out the side of her face!  It was really warm and kind of bumpy.
Luckily it didn't seem to bug her very much because she was still in a pretty good mood.
 Playing with Violet.
But then when she got into the bath her arms broke out in little hives.
Guess we'd better go to the doctor this week to get stuff figured out!  Now I'm going to be singing Allergies all night.

Lauren's Words

So far Lauren has way more words than Parker did at this age I'm pretty sure.  Here's a list of some off the top of our heads:

book duck cat squirrel puppy fish teddy baa moo giraffe woof quack toetoes tummy arm nose mouth teeth leg hand hair berries chicken yogurt alldone corn grapes yellow purple down up stairs papa Parker Mommy Daddy baby car tree home hi bye no yes cup milk water cookie poopoo cracker chair cheese whoa wow boot shoes coat click closet bottle open closed diaper rub light cuckoo push pull clock glasses choochoo beans spoon

And she probably knows a few more, too!  She likes saying hi and bye to everything, and will put together little sentences all the time (which are pretty cute).  "Hi birds, hi car, hi Daddy, bye chair, bye baby..." etc.

Here she is trying to put her boots on by herself!
Updated to add:  This morning when she woke up she said her first 3-word sentence!  April was giving her a bottle and she pushed it away and said, "No more bottle."

Plenty More Photos

I should really use my real camera for a change, huh?  Ah well.  Here are some more random phone photos!
Lauren and I had a lunch date at Silver Wok after Kindermusik last week!  Yum.

 A little better.
Random photobooth faces, experimenting with different effects.

Hey, that gigantic face looks familiar!

Some Videos

April was away at a scrapbooking thing for the weekend and Parker wanted to write her a note (we write him notes in his lunch every day).  He's been practicing his printing a lot lately, which is awesome!  Here he is writing his note to April.  His r's look like n's sometimes but he's getting better!

Here's a video of Parker practicing with his clock.  He wanted to learn how to read it so this is me trying to teach him.  He's getting pretty good with time and numbers!  The other day before school he asked me what time it was and I said, "8:44..."  He looked at me and said, "The bell rings at 8:45, so that means it's going to ring in one minute!"

Here's Lauren jamming on a xylophone.  Also, Parker wants MORE KETCHUP PLEASE!!!!

Lauren doing a little shimmy dance to Party In My Tummy from Yo Gabba Gabba (which she loves -- hooray!).

Lauren is getting really good at climbing stairs (and she thinks it's hilarious when she tries to sneak over and climb them without us noticing).  Here she is climbing while Parker bombards her with stuffed animals.  Luckily she thinks it's funny and not the scariest thing ever.

Doing a little dance to Violet (thanks Scott, Gemma, and Milo)!

More Random Phone Photos

Lauren is getting so tall!  She can reach door knobs now!  April and I were just saying that we keep underestimating how tall she is because she still isn't walking, so we only think she's as tall as she is while crawling.  But she pulls herself up everything now!
Hanging out in the Loblaw's elevator.
"SQUIRREL!"
Mmm...  appetizing.
Piano practice.
Parker has homework now!  Every week they send a book home to practice reading.  Parker's first book was called Biscuit's New Trick.  They want him to practice his comprehension and writing so we have a little book where he writes the date, draws a picture about the book (that's a dog, and some brown mud, and a ball in the mud), the book title, and then his favourite part in the book.  His favourite is the five balls at the beginning of the book bouncing around the page.

Messing With Templates And Lauren Bringing Me Books

Just messing around with some more Blogger templates.  This one is "dynamic" so it might take a bit longer to load on slower connections or computers, but it looks kind of neat.  If you mouse over an image it shows you the post title and the date.  And if you click on that image, it opens the post (and its images) in a new little window.  You can change the way you view the blog with the options across the top: Classic, Flipcard, Magazine, Mosaic, Sidebar, Snapshot, and Timeslide.  I have no idea what Timeslide does but it sounds pretty awesome.
And now here's Lauren sitting in her favourite gigantic pile of books.
Reading some Melmo.

 HERE I COME DADDY!
I'M GOING TO BRING YOU THIS BOOK SO YOU CAN READ IT TO ME!
I'M SERIOUS I'M BRINGING YOU THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW!
Here it is.  Please read it to me.
