Kindergarten Spring Concert

On the 16th, Parker's class (and the other kindergarten class) had a spring concert!  They had been practicing for a long time and Parker was very excited for the show.  He had all the lyrics memorized and certain movements for certain songs.  Here are some photos of him singing and being cute.  Another parent video taped the whole thing and is hopefully putting it on YouTube eventually.  Their set list included "All I Really Need" by Raffi, "On The Yard", an alphabet song, "What A Wonderful World", and a song about pussywillows.
Parker looked really nervous when they first opened the curtains!

Wearing the crowns they made for the alphabet song.  Each crown has the first letter of their name on it.

At the end of "On The Yard" they had to shout, "ON THE YARD!!!" really loud, which I think Parker really enjoyed.

Some sign language during "What A Wonderful World" (Parker calls it "Trees Of Green" because that's the first lyric).

After the concert, we were invited back to the classroom for juice and cake!  And they also had a book fair happening in the library, and then all the kids got to leave early!  Boo yah.

Lots of Random Phone Photos

Here are a bunch of photos that have been building up on my phone.
Parker playing some video games.  I think he was playing Lego Star Wars.
Parker was drawing by himself, but since Lauren copies everything Parker does she thought she would join in.
 Playing at playgroup!
Another playgroup!

Making some pizza at a friend's place.  Mmmm....

Another playgroup!  And sporting her new Yo Gabba Gabba shirt, which is probably her favourite shirt ever.
Checking out the forest paths on the way home from school.

Eating some pretzels as an after-school snack while watching TV.
Enjoying an apple juice outside.  We had dinner on the patio!  Hooray for spring!

Sporting her new sunglasses, which she likes to put on upside-down and then say, "Upside-down!"
At the train station, showing me where the trains go under a bridge.
Reading books with Mommy and wearing Parker's old Muno shirt.
Playing an awesome new crazy German game from cousin Kenny!  It's called "Animal Upon Animal" and it's pretty fun.  Each player picks 7 animals to start with and you take turns rolling a die.  It will tell you to either stack one animal, stack two, pick one of your own to give to an opponent to stack, have the other players pick one of your animals for you to stack, or add to the base of the "pyramid" by placing an animal at the front of back of the crocodile.  If you knock animals over you have to add them to your collection.  Keep stacking them until you don't have any left.
 Parker loves it!

He's a fan of the snakes and always takes a bunch of them at the start.  I think it's a good strategy to mix up your animals a bit, but he goes for clusters of the same animals.  He won the first game but then I won the second tonight.  :D

Happy 5th Birthday, Parker!

Parker officially turned 5 today!  We had his first ever friend-only party on the weekend and I think everyone had a good time!  We told him he could invite 5 friends so we had 3 boys and 3 girls at the party.  Luckily the weather was awesome so we were able to play in the back yard a bit!  It's funny because we kept thinking we had to organize all these games and stuff for the kids to do, but all they really wanted was "free play", where they could just run around and do whatever!  So they did that a lot.  Here are some photos from his party:

Playing a follow-the-leader type game with bean bags.

 Ring toss.
Parker actually got one!

Playing with Lauren in the sand table.
Weeeeeeee!
Time for lunch!  Hot dogs, pretzels, chips, fruit, and juice boxes.  Mmmmm....

Sometimes (or all the time) Parker likes to lick the ketchup and mustard off his hot dog before he bites it.

Parker is very excited for his cake.

I think he really wanted to eat some icing.
It's hard to tell but it's a Lego Star Wars cake!  Courtesy of the always awesome Cakes N' Crafts.

 Deeeeeeeeeeeep breath in!

 Some xylophone action.
 Working with play-dough.
Checking out the train table.
Ignoring the train table to build train tracks on the floor instead.
Time for presents!  Courtney wrote a nice message on the bag that said, "You are a nice friend Parker."

 Some help ripping the strings!

 Oooooooooo, a Star Wars watch!

Parker thought Russell's card was hilarious.  It had a little window on the front so you could see a bit of Mickey Mouse's eyes.  And when you opened it there was a gigantic Mickey Mouse head.  Hilarious, right?

 Lego firetruck!  Awwww yeah!
Some crazy mini slinkies!

Which also double as binoculars in a pinch.
Opening his card from Hayden.

A Lego Star Wars sticker book!

 Reading his card from Ava.

Teamwork!

Hooray for birthday parties!  Thankfully our house was still standing by the end!
