Today Parker totally blew my mind. We went to go to Staples to pick up this file cart thing I ordered but I forgot it was a holiday and everything was closed. We drove around for a bit rocking out to some of his favourite songs ("Uprising" by Muse, "Knights of Cydonia" by Muse, and "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay) and I noticed McDonald's was open so we pulled in to get an ice cream. Here's Parker eating his ice cream and watching out the window for cars to drive by as they exit the drive-thru. One is approaching as Parker waits in anticipation:
Every time a car went by he'd knock on the window, give a big smile, and wave to the people driving. Most people didn't notice but there was one really nice lady who saw him and gave a big smile and wave, and another guy with his family who saw and also gave a huge smile and wave. This pleased Parker.
Then he said, "Hey Daddy!" which is his favourite way to start a sentence. "I'm going to sing a song and play drums on the window like this!" And he tapped on the window with his knuckles like when he was trying to get peoples' attention. Then he started singing We Are Super Heroes from Yo Gabba Gabba, which goes like this:
And while he sang it, he tapped out the beat on the window with his right hand (he's actually left handed). It blew my mind! He tapped out the doo doo doo intro while singing the doos, but then when he got into the regular verse he just kept time on 2 and 4, where the regular snare hits are. And then he got to the chorus and did the double-time tapping. I'm hoping to teach him how to play drums when he gets a bit older, or maybe he can try some other instruments if he wants. But he seems to love music and has a great memory for all the melodies and changes and stuff! Parker has crazy skillz, yo!
